Specializing in interactive illustration, animation and graphic design for print, web, cd, dvd and video. Currently producing interactive illustration, Flash animation, graphic and web design for a variety of organizations including the World Health Organization, UN, UNICEF, Project WET international, Boater Education, The San Antonio Water System, The US department of Forestry, Woodsy Owl, The Missouri Department of Conservation, the Chattahoochee National Forest, the University of Wisconsin, Project WET Tennessee, the Missouri Natural Resources Conference, Arkansas Forestry Commission, Bryant Creek Watershed Project, Voila, Sugar3, Care2, Back in Shape, and The Atlanta Journal and Constitution. Experience: Twenty years of illustration and design. The last ten years specializing in informational and educational Flash projects. I previously spent five years with the Atlanta Journal and Constitution newsart department producing daily illustrations, graphics, maps & charts as well as developing related web media. A wonderful and challenging job where, among the wide variety of design, illustration and web tasks, I also shared pages with Mike Luckovich, by producing daily editorial illustrations for the opinion pages, calling upon a variety of styles from pen & ink to watercolors, caricatures to full blown information graphics, photoillustration and technical illustration, clay modeling and paper sculpture. With over fifteen years of Macintosh experience with programs like Photoshop, Freehand, QuarkXpress, Pagemaker, Fontographer, Infinity 3D, Texturescape, Illustrator, Dimensions, Streamline, Pagespeed, Apple's QTVR, Dabbler, Painter and Deltagraph Pro. Currently immersed in Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, In Design, Quicktime, Java script, animated and static banners. Other projects have included all aspects of print, web and CDrom design for corporations like IBM, Symantec, Georgia Pacific, and Siemens. 20 years of freelance illustration, design, and art direction and both here in the US and back in London. Ten years before the advent of desk top publishing, I was producing marker comprehensive "visuals" and storyboards for clients such as Coca-Cola, Georgia-Pacific, Bacardi, BellSouth, Saab, Boeing, Norsk Data, Macmillan Publishing, Nature Genetics, The High Museum of Art and the Turner Foundation. Agency clients in the last twenty years have included: J. Walter Thompson, Bozell, Cole Henderson Drake, Austin Kelley, BBDO, Ogilvy & Mather, Sawyer Riley Compton, McCann Erickson, CATC Inc., and Guillotine Post design. Education: After a years foundation course in art & design at Banbury Art College, I studied "Visual Studies" at Oxford Polytechnic. While in Oxford, I was offered a job on the movie "Lifeforce" under John Dykstra (special effects Oscar winner for Star Wars) as an apprentice to British illustrator Tom Adams, creating alien models, huge matte paintings and blowing up things. We now llive in Portland, Oregon, where I am actively producing web and print graphics, illustration and design. My ideal position is working in a great animation studio or the art department of a newspaper or magazine. I also play the drums for the Brothers of the Baladi, a middle eastern world music band based in Portland, with over ten great albums from their 30 year career which has included two Santana alumni drummers. |
